MSU School of Art students refine their creative personal vision, develop advance skills both in creative practice and criticism; and find their places as professionals within the creative industries

We are at the heart of Montana’s most influential and inventive artistic community, providing an energetic environment in which students can flourish. The School of Art is a creative hothouse where new ideas are always encouraged and developed through learning, teaching and research; which is studio based, face to face, professional orientated and socially engaged. The curriculum is divided into seven areas of study: art history, ceramics, graphic design, jewelry and metalsmithing, painting and drawing, printmaking, and sculpture. Learn More

Students are introduced and encouraged to see clay as a technological medium through the International Wild Clay Research Project. Sculpture, functional pottery, and ecological uses of indigenous clays are explored through field trips and studio practices. Learn More
