  • The majority of MSU courses will have an online component that students have access to through Brightspace. Login to access online content, take quizzes, upload homework, and engage in discussions using the online platform.

  • OneDrive is a cloud file storage service and collaboration tool available to all MSU faculty, staff, and students. Access and share files from a browser, your desktop or mobile device. Because it is part of Office 365, file saving and sharing is easy to do directly from Microsoft Teams as well as any of the Office suite of products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • How do I use/get access to OneDrive (MSU's cloud sharing service)?
  • CatCourse is Montana State University's registration software. It is designed to ensure students get the classes they need with their preferred schedule.  A student identifies the courses they wish to take and CatCourse provides all possible schedules OR identifies where conflicts occur that prevent all classes being taken in the same semester.

  • A one-on-one advising relationship in which students are guided in decisions they will need to make through their college career. Strongly encouraged one appointment per semester, academic advising can guide students through the goal-setting and decision-making process. All students are assigned an advisor in their home department.

  • Follow URL, click on the 'Schedule Now' button, then login if you are directed to. You'll be directed to a page where you'll need to fill out a little information about what sort of advising you need, and what day you're available. The calendar will pop up with what appointments are still open, and will let you select which you'd like. Once you select that appointment time, you'll be directed to an information screen, with directions about what you'll need to do to be best prepared for your advising, and how you'd prefer to be reminded of the appointment. Choose how you'd like to meet our avisor (in person or online), then click on the 'schedule' button and you're all set.  
  • Holds may be placed on your record preventing you from registering for courses, ordering transcripts, or other activities. You may check for holds in the "Student Services" section of MyInfo.
  • During your time at MSU, you will likely need to add or drop a class. The Registration Handbooks and the Registrar's Office website are the tools you will need in order to know when you can add or drop with or without a grade.

  • To ADD a class when you cannot complete the process through MyInfo or CatCourse Scheduler,contact the instructor of the class you’d like to be added into. To locate instructor information, find the class on the Schedule of Classes in MyInfo.
  • To DROP a class:
    • Start with your assigned academic advisor, unless your department has shared a different process with you.
    • Students must receive advisor approval. It is important that you reach out to them well in advance of the deadline to ensure you have time to complete the withdraw before the deadline.
    • If you have recently changed majors or are unable to connect with your advisor, go to Undergraduate Advisor Contacts - https://www.montana.edu/advising/toolkitresources/drop_contacts.html 
      • Graduate students should reach out to their home department to confirm their advisor.
    • If dropping to zero credits, fill out the university withdrawal request form online.
    • Additional approval from the Assistant College Dean or Graduate School Dean needed if adding after the 10th semester day or dropping after the withdrawal deadline for extraordinary reasons only.
  • A student can withdraw from just one of their classes after the last add/drop day through the Registrar's Office using the Add/Drop Form. A "W" will appear on their academic transcript.
  • ...I have university-level coursework through dual enrollment?
    • Enroll yourself in the next course in the sequence.
  • ...I have university-level coursework by virtue of an AP exam?
    • Enroll yourself in the next course. If you have not yet received, or your AP records have not been processed by MSU, your advisor will have to register you. 
  • ...I have not taken any language in the past?
    • Enroll yourself.

  • The application is completed online but it is a multi-step process. You must meet with an advisor and a certifying officer (both are Mandi in the School of Art) to begin the process of applying for  your BA/BFA in Art.  This can be a single meeting and most likely will be pretty short, and to prepare look over your DegreeWorks so you have an idea of what you will take your  final semester(s).   • If you plan to graduate in the Spring, October 1st is your deadline (make your appointment in September)
  • If you plan to graduate in the Summer* or Fall – March 1st is your deadline (make your appointment in February)
  • *Summer graduates - we can meet in September and talk graduation plans but the online application may not let you apply to graduate yet.

  • Go to Registration Contracts -  https://art.montana.edu/registrationcontracts.html) to start the process.  
  • DocuSign is an electronic signature (e-signature) platform for sending, signing, and managing documents securely in the cloud.   MSU is using this program to route a lot of the forms that were once on paper.
  • Go to https://account.docusign.com and then log in with your @montana.edu email address. Click "Continue".
  • Click the blue "Use Company Login" button.
  • Enter your NetID and password in the MSU service login fields.
  • Log into your DocuSign account, following the above procedure. On your page, there is a dashboard of your DocuSign activities. Click on "Action Required" to see forms that still need your signature. This will take you to the queue of forms that you need to sign, if any.
